On Wednesday, April 19th, the IRS held its first ever Reverse Industry Day at its New Carrollton Federal Building in Maryland. The goal of the event was to have industry share perspectives with the Government on the industry processes for responding to solicitations. Over 150 IRS procurement personnel attended in person or online to learn more about how industry makes decisions, and how industry and Government can work together. Attendees were eligible for continuing education credits.
Brillient Corporation’s CEO and President, Mr. Sukumar Iyer, was part of a four-person industry panel on “How Industry Decides Whether or Not to Bid on an Opportunity.” Other topics included “How Industry Views the Acquisition Timeline” and “How Industry Interprets Solicitation Requirements.” The event provided a great forum for Government to learn from industry.
“I am very thankful to IRS procurement for the opportunity to participate and share the perspectives of how small businesses track, qualify and decide on responding to requirements”, said Mr. Iyer. “In these budget strapped days, it behooves Government and industry to work collaboratively to identify state of the art and cost effective solutions which are a good bang for the taxpayer buck”.
Mr. Iyer’s very first federal client was the IRS in 1998 when working for a large business. While participating on the panel, he shared insights and lessons learned from Brillient’s beginnings as a very small business through its current stage as a maturing small business. Brillient Corporation has partnered with IRS for the past 6 years and considers IRS a premier client.
